Natural Yeast Infection Remedies

Yeast infections of the vagina are common, and occur when there is an overgrowth of a fungus called Candida albicans. Candida is usually present in the body in minute numbers and are located in places such as the bowel.

What are the symptoms of female candidiasis? Females with yeast infection usually get genital burning. Males with penile yeast infection may get an itchy rash on the penis.

How do you know you have a yeast infection? Many yeast infections are caused by the person’s own Candida organisms. Yeasts often live in the mouth, gastrointestinal tract, and vagina without causing any issues. Issues develop when yeast overgrows in these locations. Sometimes it can be passed between people through sexual intercourse.

How are yeast problems diagnosed? The symptoms of yeast infection are the same as those of several other genital problems. Usually the diagnosis is confirmed by taking a sample of the vaginal secretions and looking at it under a microscope to see if Candida organisms are present.

Candida Yeast Cures Many antifungal drugs are available. Antifungal vaginal pessaries or creams are often used. The duration of the course ranges from single dose to 7 days of therapy. Simple infections can also be treated with a single dose of the antifungal drug fluconazole. These drugs usually work to fix infection, but a few people have resistant infections. Short-course treatments should be avoided in recurrent or resistant infection.

Can Candida infection become resistant to treatment? Overusing antifungal treatments may increase the chance that they will become ineffective. It is important, therefore to be sure of the problem before treating.
