How To Select An Event Photographer

Written by Lady Frank on February 8th, 2010

There are several company occasions, such as the visit of an important client, or a high profile conference, for which you need to capture the proceedings in form of images. Taking these photographs requires event photographers.

Event photography is drastically different from amateur photography or even professional photography in a studio environment, as the photographer does not have any control over the proceedings of the occasion. To be able to do a good job at event photography, a person obviously needs talent, plus he must also have years of experience behind him. Most importantly, there are no retakes for a corporate photographer.

There are some important things that you need to be aware of before you go ahead and select a corporate photographer. He must have impressive accuracy and good technical know-how of light settings for the camera, as most corporate events take place in covered halls. You should also make sure that the photographer does not bring with him a bad quality camera with low resolution or lack of adaptability to lesser light.

It is very important to engage a professional corporate photographer from a renowned agency. To make sure that the photographer fits well with your needs, ask for some samples of his previous work. You can also ask for customer references on the performance of that photographer.

Once you have chosen a photographer, discuss the requirements of the project with him and make your needs clear. This step is the most crucial, because without proper communication it would be difficult for the photographer to understand what your exact needs are, and for you to be assured of good output. There is nothing like a good conversation to put people at ease, and this way you would also be able to build a good working relationship with your corporate photographer.
